Don Fraser is one of North America’s leading authorities on student success. He has delivered student motivation and high-performance learning seminars to over 60,000 college staff and students at more than 200 colleges and conferences.
Don was a professor at Durham College for 30 years, and his work in the area of student retention includes acting as the founding Chair of the Durham Faculty Academic Council. Don was a member of the Ontario Colleges’ Committee on Retention. He has also been an invited speaker to the National Conference on Student Recruitment, Marketing and Retention from 2000-2016.
His journey has been a 30+ year journey of a faculty member’s perspective on “Improving the Student Experience”.
Throughout that journey from Durham College, to over 200 onsite college projects and conferences from Jamaica to Anchorage, Newfoundland to San Diego, and webinars from U.A.E. to N.Z, Don’s #1 insight is how to build strengths, skills, and most importantly, confidence, in our students.
As important are: creating a positive program culture in the pursuit of a career, which needs to be done within a faculty team; and delivering a career/program-based education through high-impact experiences from Day 1 to internship to graduation.
